FAMILY WINERY IN THE HEART OF LEVICE
In the heart of the picturesque town of Levice, the union of the Hancko and Vidrov families and the decision of their third generation resulted in the establishment of the Hancko Family Winery. During their lifetime, fathers and great-grandfathers from both sides produced unique natural wines in their vineyards and in their cellars.
WE ARE DEDICATED TO THE PRODUCTION OF NATURAL WINE
...with minimal intervention in the production process. We strive to bring out the true expression of the grape and its terroir in the final product, that is, the unique characteristics of the soil, climate, and environment of the vineyard.
MINIMAL INTERVENTION IN THE PROCESS
We make minimal interventions in the process and, unlike conventional winemaking, we do not use any enzymes, commercial yeasts, or various technological interventions to modify the taste, appearance, and stability of the wine. We thus strive to preserve their authenticity.
YEASTS FROM GRAPE SKINS
For fermentation, we rely only on wild yeasts present on the grape skins and in the winery environment to initiate fermentation, rather than adding commercial yeast strains.
NATURAL CHARACTER
When bottling our wines, we do not filter, allowing gravity and time in the cellar to work, which adds natural character and full structure to the wine with minimal sulfur.
WINE-GROWING AREA WITH A RICH HISTORY
The origin of Šiklóš Hill is linked to the hot springs of mineralized water that emerge from great depths along the tectonic faults. The local vineyards, growing on this special type of mineral peat soil, have been giving our wines their exceptional taste in this excellent Central European microclimate since the Roman Empire.
